Process

Often, my writing starts out as a snapshot in my head. A character will pop into my daydreams, and I will spend time sketching him or her. The characters' personality is usually evident right away, it is just up to me to find some adventures for this new little creation.

I see how much children enjoy interacting with their books. For this reason, I try to make my books interactive in some way, where a child's actions affect the next illustration.

At the moment, I am in the process of finishing up a humorous picture book about a sweet little fairy who has a bad habit of misunderstanding what is being asked of him. Here are some early sketches of him. It took me a few tries to carve out exactly who he would be.
